Welcome

Bird watching is a popular interest and hobby pursued by many people. Birders come in a shapes and sizes. The nature of their interest covers many topics ranging from garden bird watching to detailed ornithological studies. Wherever you are in the world birders have linked up with like minded people to form Bird Groups so that they can share their interest with others.

All bird groups like to attract new members but you don’t need to join a bird group to pursue your interest. Some people like to do it on their own, others join one or two bird groups and some “cherry-pick” going to various groups to attend presentations which interest them or participating in field trips where that is encouraged. Most bird groups are only too glad to accommodate visitors and will give you a warm welcome.

This website is being developed following discussions amongst a small group of birders in a Wilmslow, Cheshire bird group. The potential audience is birders in general and it aims to provide information and stimulate interest and discussion about birds without going into the detailed realms of ornithology.

I have elected to “go public” with this website while it is in the early stages of development because I want to be able to see the response of viewers to the content as it is introduced. Initially there are just two modules - Forum and Features.

Whether you have a loyalty to a specific bird group or are just an interested birder this website is for you – please read on to find out why.

How to have your say.

This is an interactive website where you can have an input right now:-

1. Click on Forum on the top green navigation bar and scroll down the page. You will see blue links which define a number of categories. Below that in red you will see "Please post your message here about your own birding interests". A small box will ask for your first name (a nick-name will do) and your valid E-mail address. Your E-mail address will not be revealed to me.

2. Now type your comments in the larger, empty box below and then click Post it below the box. In due course and if appropriate, I will reply to you. You can view posts and replies in Recent Posts, a drop-down menu under Forum.

3. Of course it's much more meaningful if your comments are posted in a structured manner. By clicking on one of the items in the blue categories list you can make your comment more specific.

If you wish you can participate more fully in this website. Click on Join and follow the simple procedure.
