Following on from your comments about Redstarts and Whitestarts, you concluded that both were montane-linked as regards their habitat. I wonder, then, where the Blackstart fits in as this is a desert bird?
The Redstarts I discussed are listed in genus Phoenicurus of family Muscicapidae. The Blackstart is listed in genus Cercomela of the same family and is described as a species of rocky deserts and mountain slopes. Thanks for the comment - I will look at other species in genus Cercomela. Bob.
